THE TIE AND DYE

The tie-and-dye technique originated more than 5000 years ago in Asia under the name of bandhani: fabrics were tightly knotted in several places before being immersed in natural dye baths. Charlie Joe chose Bali to make his creations, a country where the best craftsmen and know-how in the world can be found. What makes it special? Its uniqueness and the special effect it brings to our pieces.

THE BLOCK PRINT

This ancestral tradition perpetuated by craftsmen in India consists of printing designs in a block of carved wood (from pink wood), on cotton, linen and silk by exerting hand pressure on the block. One block corresponds to one colour, several blocks are needed to make a block print. Our prints are designed in our workshop in Marseille, then made by our craftsmen in India.

THE EMBROIDERY

Embroidery is one of the most precious and well-known textile traditions in Asia. It consists of hand-sewing motifs, beads or sequins from a simple cotton thread. This art of infinite possibility requires patience and meticulousness. Each year, we try to highlight embroidery in all its aspects.
